Now, we can discuss the steps for the wireless range extender setup with the Netgear installation assistant.

  1. Plug your Wi-Fi extender into the power supply to turn it on.
  2. Place Netgear Nighthawk extender close to the Wi-Fi router.
  3. Wait for a few seconds or until you see the power lights turning green. In case, you see no green light on the power LEDs, then you need to press the power button from the backside of the extender.
  4. Connect your Wi-Fi extender to the computer or smartphone with the help of an Ethernet device or wirelessly.
    1. Connecting wirelessly – You need to launch the connection manager from your Wi-Fi enabled computer or smartphone followed by connecting to the network with the name ‘Negear_Ext’. You will be able to see this name on the list of networks. As the extender is connected to the Wi-Fi enabled computer or device, you will see the client LED turning white.
    2. Connecting with the Ethernet cable – If you are interested in connecting your computer to Wi-Fi Range Extender using an Ethernet cable, then you need to connect one end of the cable to the Wi-Fi extender with its other end to the computer.
  5. Launch a web browser on your computer and enter mywifiext.net in the address bar.
  6. You are going to see the Netgear Installation page on the screen.
  7. Follow on-screen instructions for connecting your extender to the Wi-Fi network.
  8. Move your extender from its current position to a new where it is between the router and the area where internet signals are absent.
  9. You need to ensure that the location where you are placing the extender should receive the signals from the router. You can select the right location using the status LED on the Wi-Fi extender. If the status LED turns white, then that means the area is getting enough signal from the router.
  10. If your extender is not receiving proper signals, then you will have to change the direction of the Wi-Fi extender. Move the Wi-Fi extender close to the router followed by checking the status LED. If the LED blinks white, then the location is absolutely fine.
  11. As the connection establishes, you can connect your wireless devices to your Netgear Nighthawk extender.

With that, the process for configuring Netgear Nighthawk extender concludes, and if you come across any issue during or after the process, then you can consult experts.
